The Tunnels

I traveled to Hubbard Park which is on the river bank north of where my first sound was recorded to see if there was anything worth listening to. I found a set of tunnels large enough for vehicles to travel through and was lucky enough to get the chance to capture the roar of the truck tires through the tunnel. I photographed this picture of one side of the tunnel and after messing with the exposure and contrast it turned out like this.

Traffic on Oakland

I walked to Oakland Avenue and put my microphone down on the street curb in hopes to get a quality recording of the traffic passing. This particular sound clip portrays the different speeds of the vehicles passing very well in my opinion, check it out!

The Sewer

Initially, I had intended to walk to the union and record the chaotic sounds of people talking, and departing bus's; however when I got there I had the idea to find a sewer to drop my microphone into and see what I could come up with. I found a sewer that was being filled with melting snow and decided to start recording the sounds of our city's sewage system!

Parking Garage

As I traveled East on my adventure I thought I would record the noises in the Columbia St. Marys Hospital parking structure. I was able to record the deep drone that covered the sounds of car engines revving to breaks squeaking and much more!

The River

The first sound that I recorded was down by the Milwaukee River. I set my microphone on some ice that was on the river bank and was able to capture the sounds of the water flowing. I used a photo that I took before the snow flew last fall which was near the same area as my river recording.

Scott Miller Drift One Strategy

For my Drift One I will start at the intersection of Oakland Ave. and Providence Ave. I will proceed West until I reach the river and from then on I will move South down Cambridge Ave. After reaching Hartford Ave. I will proceed towards Columbia St. Marys Hospital, and then travel down Maryland Ave. until I reach the union on Kenwood Blvd. I will continue my walk north on Downer Ave. through the town of Shorewood and eventually walk West until I reach Hubbard Park. I plan on returning to my starting point after Hubbard Park with hopefully a mess of sounds!
